SKILLS/ACTIVITIES

You will have no problem communicating in English and it would be helpful to learn a few phrases of the wide spoken local Swahili language.
We expect volunteers to behave well and face activities which are likely to be hard and challenging but also very rewarding and fun.
We want volunteers to accept a programmes like this when they are ready to actively participate at all levels and contribute. We are not trying to kill joys, far from it- our aim is that you return home having had a fantastic moment of your life, remember the success of the projects does lie in mutual cooperation and understanding when it comes to i.e. what to be done, when, and how..

Local communities expect westerners to behave well and to appreciate /observe their customs e.g. women must cover up bare flesh (arms, tummies & legs) i.e when working amongst Muslims especially in Zanzibar.

On arrival an individual assessment will be made to allow volunteers to express their preferences and we will do our utmost to match activities to the volunteers’ skills and experiences . Appropriate training will be offered before undertaking specialist task, volunteers will also be expected to help and take responsibility for some domestic duties.
Therefore we encourage volunteers to bring with them spending money for their free time, transports, tourist e.t.c .
